Students will create a Popplet for the first section of Chapter 8 that they read. If you are presenting the information from the chapter in another manner than reading, they can still create a Popplet to graphically organize all of the major points that were covered.
What To Do
Create a Popplet, and name it Anglo American Colonization.
Provide students with a list of subtopics so they know what to include in the popplet. This should be information that they will be assessed over.
Students should add text, pictures and even their own drawings to show their understanding.
Have students Export to a .jpeg that saves in their camera roll. This can be turned in wherever you'd like.
Using the Book Creator app, students will create their own storybooks to tell the story of "The People of Colonial Texas." This is an option that can be used anytime to summarize or review any topic that has been covered.
What To Do
Create a framework for what you want students to include in their books. The pages of the book should include a title page and information about who the people were, why they came to Texas and the challenges they faced. (minimum 4 pages)
Each page must include photos, text and sound.
This book can then be exported straight to Google Classroom.
Anglo Settlement Acrostic
Students can use the Pic Collage app to complete Activity #5's acrostic poem. Students will use their knowledge of Anglo settlement in Texas to create the acrostic. It should include the
reasons why the Anglo settlers came to Texas and challenges they faced.
