Texas Regions

The Mapping of Texas History:   Geography & Regions of Texas

The first layer of our map is the perfect way to introduce the geographical features of our state to our students. It is recommended that prior to completing this first lesson, students should have set up the overall structure of the map. Once students create the map, they can easily view and interact with their creation on their iPads from Google Drive.

Here is a suggested order of completion:
  1. Teachers and students view the video to create their map layer.
  2. Teachers ask questions that spark their students' curiosity (these have been added to each Doc after the essential questions).
  3. Students learn any other content needed for this unit's topic.
  4. Students answer essential questions to show mastery of concept.

Guess that Region Game

Review the regions of Texas by giving groups of your kids screenshots of various places around the state. Make them describe what they see in the pictures and justify which region they believe the image is from. Allow them to use the map they created for reference.
